To commemorate 90 years of Chrysler we’re taking a tour through our automotive history with a nine-part video series highlighting some of our most iconic, groundbreaking vehicles. Starting with the founding of the brand in 1924, and through nearly a century of craftsmanship, we’re taking a closer look at the style and vision of Walter P. Chrysler and celebrating the vehicles that have driven us through nine decades of innovation.
In this final installment, we’re kicking off the modern era — the 2000s to present day — with a look at the vehicle that started a revolution, the 2005 Chrysler 300. First turn your attention to the rearview, and then join us as we look ahead at our current vehicle lineup.
2005 Chrysler 300
After a 25-year hiatus, the 300 nameplate was revived with the 2005 Chrysler 300, a modern take on the original. The rear-wheel-drive sedan brought back the large grille and low roofline, was named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, and made Car and Driver’s 10Best list. The top-of-the-line 300C featured a 5.7L HEMI® rated at 340 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, one of the first modern engines to feature Multi-Displacement System tech for increased efficiency. Fifty years after its debut in 1955, the Chrysler 300 was back.
