The All-New 2015 Chrysler 200 represents the work of thousands of Chrysler employees as well as the manufacturing philosophy that now informs everything they do: World Class Manufacturing (WCM).
Central to World Class Manufacturing are these four goals: to reduce waste, to improve vehicle quality, to increase worker productivity and to improve overall safety in the workplace. On its own, each initiative is one that another company might tackle a year or a quarter at a time. But for Chrysler Group LLC, striving to meet all objectives at once, continuously, leads to an environment where nothing short of total excellence will suffice.
WCM methodology was most recently implemented at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Sterling Heights, Michigan. There, Chrysler Group LLC invested more than a billion dollars to build a new fully robotic, 1 million-square-foot body shop alongside its most advanced paint shop to date.
That SHAP would receive such significant upgrades in time to produce the All-New 2015 Chrysler 200 is no coincidence. In order for this vehicle to meet its full potential, company leaders believed it would have to be produced in an environment and according to a methodology that have no equal in the business.
