Eight Speeds – Less Fuel, No Waiting

Chrysler 300 - new 8-speed automatic transmission With so many automakers promising “greener” and more fuel efficient cars down the road, what’s being done now gets lost in the shuffle. For Chrysler, continuously taking advantage of technological improvements to improve fuel economy is essential. Thanks to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, standard in the 2012 Chrysler 300, we’ve taken efficiency to the next level .

Once the exclusive domain of foreign luxury brands, the new eight-speed automatic transmission helps the 2012 Chrysler 300 attain a staggering  EPA estimated 31 mpg on the highway. Compared to previous generation six-cylinder 300 models, the 2012 300 is up to 17% more efficient with significantly lower C02 emissions.

The transmission upgrade isn’t limited to fuel economy, either. Because the eight-speed transmission adds three more gear ratios compared to the six-speed, shift times have decreased to an incredible 200 milliseconds. This works in tandem with the powerful 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine to give the 2012 Chrysler 300 quicker acceleration and smoother shifting – performance and refinement unmatched by other domestic luxury sedans.
